Pirate DVDs on Walking Street Pattaya

Another round of confiscating pirate DVDs from rogue street vendors took place on the evening of 5^th February [2008].  

Again, the favourite place for these vendors to hassle tourists is Walking Street, so Tourist Police Officers headed by Police Lieutenant Colonel Suwan Ouanan went along with his team and swooped on a number of street vendors.  However, many of them managed to get away from the scene and the officers only caught one man with 1,500 pirate copies of the latest movies and pornography.

Pirate DVDs are readily available in Pattaya from stalls and vendors walking around the bars. Prices are usually 100 baht but quality varies from excellent to the unwatchable. If the movie has only just hit the cinemas the quality is likely to be very poor as it is often filmed on a hand held camera in a cinema.
