Hello there. Has there been a visa law change in the last 12 months ??
If you arrive at Bangkok airport with a departure time greater than 31 days and do not have a visa or extension you will not be granted access to Thailand ?? Is this true ?? Or can you still arrive with a departure time of 45 days, get a 30 day visa, stay 20 days in Thailand fly to Cambodia for a 2 week holiday, then fly back to Thailand and get another 30 day visa for the remaining off your trip. Thanks |

My guess would be that you run the risk of not being allowed to enter. Another thing you should be aware of is that the ariline you are using may not allow you to board. This is because if you are not allowed to enter because of a lack of a suitable visa they are responsible for flying you back home.

So you can do Visa on Arival for NZ Passport?
How many days? What about Australian passport? Planning to go to Thailand, then to Cambo(Day Trip) and maybe Lao too. |

NZ and Australian passports are the same as far are visas are concerned. You'll get 30 days if you arrive with no visa.

No change in the law. You will be given 30 day entry stamp (not a visa) on arrival.
If you know you are coming for 30+ days then the onus is on YOU to get the visa before you come - common sense really. You can risk them checking your return flight and then come in for 30 days and do a run for another 30. However if you KNOW you are coming more than 30 days why not just do it properly and get the visa before you travel? |

I know this is a late reply, but I did that, i arrived from NZD with a return flight for 32 days later, I was sure i had been to thailand in the past and been given a 3 month visa, so i never even checked or knew anything about the 30 day entry limit.
They let me in no problems, but when i went to leave, a lady came and got me from the passport control , no one telling me anything, they all just speaking thai, i had to sit down, some guy searching my documents, and I finally saw a sign saying "over stayer", I was a little worried, as i still had no idea i was on a 30 day pass. Anyway long story short, they finally showed me the problem and told me i have to pay 1000 baht fine, i ran back out to the main area and found my TFG to get some money to pay, thank god she was still there, and all was sorted, no big deal. |

All you do if staying moe than 30 days is pre book a premium class fully refundable ticket out of Thailand "before" you leave NZ,to somewhere like Singapore (or even a cheap AirAsia ticket to Pnohm Penh) I have never ever been turned back for having a ticket extending past the 30 day threshold.
Shit-you could even just purchase a cheap bus ticket into Laos from UdonThani for sweet FA and throw it away,if just to show your country you are leaving Thailand by road. If you go to imigration in Jomtien you can get at least a weeks extension on your 30 day and save the visa run if only for a few days overstay. |
