the authorities seem to like making examples of gamblers from time to time too so I'd be really careful with any form of gambling in Thailand. That is not to say it still does not go on.....

I played on pokerstars while I was there, lol by the way pokerstars is totally rigged I've played probably over 100k hands and lost ~$3000. The bad beats on the rivers are just incredible! If you are 95% favort to win you will only win maybe 55% of the time. Sometimes it will let you win a little but if you cash out some of your winnings *boom* bad beats starts to hit you left and right. I no longer depoit money there, only play the free rolls for fun now to have a laugh.

The answer is of course to play in your hotel room where no one can see what you are doing. I'm not so sure it's worth risking it in an internet cafe but I've seen it done.
In this case you are not doing anyone any harm and the idea of the law was to stop Thai's losing their money. Would that stop a cop getting a big sum of money from you if caught? I'm thinking Nope. Rules1.gif

tongue.gif I think I've found my ninch on Pokerstars, made over 2k this month playing omaha8. I still believe holdem to be mad setup on there but with omaha you have more control. Anyone else play on PS? Could use a partner in crime at the table games, seeing 8 cards is a huge advantage tongue.gif.

Poker has a high variance, losing 3k or winning 2k is all within reasonable possibility, especially if you're playing no limit hold-em.

Even in your hotel room there is a risk involved, the thai government does check the traffic, and the ISP's are keeping logs off your activity. most sites are blocked, often the client program may be able to connect, but there is a risk.

also the pokerroom has a excuse to not pay you should you win big, as they will be checking your account on withdrawal, and they will check IP, and it will state in the T&C that it is your responsibility to check if it's legal in your jurisdiction to gamble.
