What about it?
I've stayed there. Very handy for Soi Bangla, nice staff, girl-friendly and with a full-service massage place a few doors down I would stay there again |

www.summerbreezehotel.com This is a small, friendly hotel, located in Soi Sansabai in Patong. Soi Sansabai is a small street at the top of Bangla Road, and is only five minutes walk to the beach. It is not heavily commercialised; you don€™t get pestered here by pushy street vendors and tailors. This was my fifth trip to Phuket, and this time I was looking for somewhere different to stay. I wanted to get away from the Beach Road. To be honest, I've always found the hotels there to be overpriced and not great value for money. If you want to pay for location, and not the actual hotel room, then the beach area is for you! I€™ve also found the Beach Road area to be too heavily commercialised, and not a very tranquil place to spend one€™s holiday. Immediately upon check in, I was impressed with the staff of the Summer Breeze. I was made to feel part of an extended family. The staff had great English, and Cathy, the manager, was so helpful beyond the call of duty! After a few days, I was on first name terms with all the staff. I booked the Summer Suite room at 1280 baht per night. This was one of the finest, most practical rooms I have ever stayed in, anywhere, in all trips to Thailand. Two rooms, two TVs, a good sized refrigerator, aircon, and dimmer switches on all the lights! Also, tea/coffee making facilities and a lovely, spacious living area. The bathroom was spacious, with a good shower. FREE wifi in all rooms was the bonus that really clinched it for me! After my first night there, I immediately decided to stay there for my entire holiday (18 nights). Bill, the owner, is an absolute gentleman. Originally from Las Vegas, now a resident of Phuket, he freely imparted valuable advice to myself and any fellow travellers. His knowledge of the area was extensive, and he really cared about the guests, offering concern and remedies for upset stomachs and any other situations we found ourselves in! Cathy, the manager, a native of Phuket, was just worth her weight in gold! On my first day, I had to make a call; she handed me her mobile and said I was welcome to use it! Her knowledge of the area was comprehensive. A fluent English speaker, with a working knowledge of French and Swedish, she was always willing to offer advice and recommendations. She was very professional in dealing with any situation. She had a great sense of duty of care towrds all the guests. I have never stayed in any hotel in Thailand where I could trust the staff so completely. As a solo traveler, I€™m always very cautious. I have to be. After a week staying in The Summer Breeze, I could plug in my laptop in the hotel bar, and leave it there while I walked around the corner to make an overseas call. The staff would ensure it wouldn€™t be touched! I have NEVER done that before in LOS! The hotel prices were also unique! Traditionally, I€™ve always avoided eating/drinking in hotels, as they tend to be way overpriced. Here, I could get a bottle of Heineken for only 70 baht, a comparable price with any local bar. Coffee was only 50 baht. And the wifi was free! The menu was also very reasonable; breakfasts for between 50 €“ 150 baht, main courses ranged from 90 baht €“ 300 baht. The food was excellent, as were the staff and service. Last year I stayed in the Thara Patong, at 2100 per night. If I needed to use the internet (which I do, frequently) it cost 300 baht an hour to guests. A small tin of Heineken cost 150 baht! I couldn€™t stay in the hotel for any length of time without spending far too much. In the Summer Breeze Hotel, I could get up in the morning, have a lovely breakfast, check emails and have some coffee without spending a fortune. This was a first for me; being able to relax so completely in my hotel. I took the time to type this report, because good service and good value deserves recognition and praise. Full marks to Bill and all his staff for providing a hotel that is fantastic value for money, and very fair to all travellers to Phuket. Ten out of ten! |
