Thai Airways to use A380s on London flights

Tuesday 5 August 2008
Airline & Airport Updates

International carrier Thai Airways has announced plans to use Airbus A380 planes on its flights from London.

The Thai flag-carrier confirmed the purchase of six super-jumbos for use on flights between the UK capital and Bangkok.

A380 flights to Bangkok from London are due to start in 2009 with all six aircraft due to be delivered to Thai's London Heathrow hub over the next 18 months.

Four of the planes will fly from London to Bangkok and then be used on Thai's other flights from the Thai capital, with two due to remain on the London route.

Meanwhile, Emirates also plans to use super-jumbos on its flights to London. The UAE-based airline will introduce A380s on services to Europe and Australia following the successful launch of the plane on flights to New York.

Emirates' inaugural commercial A380 flight to New York touched down on Friday, marking the first time such an aircraft has been used on any flights to America.

I wouldnt fly on a A380 personally. The technology is too new and quite different from all other aircraft. Id leave a good few years error margin b4 I even consider flying on one.

I think he means that he wants to wait until most of the bugs are worked out. It's a plane with some new designs that haven't been used before. Still a cool looking ride though.

When Thai start flying the A380 from London I will be switching from EVA as Thai frequent flyer scheme is a lot better than Eva.

Can you imagine 2 of them arriving at Swampy within 30 mins of each other, though?
Think of the lines at immigration, and then at the baggage reclaim
And thats saying nothing about the "herding" that happens at your home airport
These large planes are something i am NOT looking forward to in any way !!!! Hair_Out1.gif

well,if they fill the plane cost to the airline per person is reduced my about 20%ish as theres that much more people on board.so i would of thought it would be the same, even cheaper if they cant fill it as theres gunna be a slowdown in people flying
