This morning at approximately 10:32:06.62749, I was awakened by two unusual things: 1) The unmistakeable banging sounds of a traffic accident, and 2) Lady Mangosteen crawling over me like a Land Rover might crawl over a fallen tree to go look. Quickly (for me), I grabbed my trusty camera and scrambled Chopper Mangosteen. Got these pics:

I'm not quite sure of the sequence of events. However, let me just express how impressed I am with the level of protection that would have been afforded to the occupants of the songtaew, if there had been any. The conspicuous absence of severed heads in the road suggest otherwise.

Shortly after these pics were taken the police arrived at the scene, untangled the accident, and sent the vehicles on their way. No ambulances showed up, so I guess nobody objected to the bribes they were asked to pay. At this writing, the traffic jam is easing and things are returning to normal. Unless the cops figure out a way to re-fuck things.

This is Chopper Mangosteen reporting.

More details here, brakes on a coach failed and he ended up smashing into vehicles from where the pictures above were taken all the way down to the Hanaman roundabout where he crashed into a concrete block. sadly some major injuries reproted - it's amazing no one was killed. The coach is still embedded on top of the concrete block today (Thursday) & judging by the number of people taking pictures has become a local tourist attraction.
