Phra Nakhon Khiri (Thai: อุทยานประวัติศาสตร์พระนครคีรี) is a historical park in Phetchaburi, Thailand, located on hill overlooking the city.

To the locals it is better known as Khao Wang, simply meaning Hill with palace, while the name Phra Nakhon Khiri means Holy City Hill.

The park consists of three building groups, located on the three peaks of the 92m high hill. On the western peak is the actual palace with adjoining structures. The middle or central peak is a big chedi named Phra That Chom Phet. The eastern peak houses the Wat Phra Kaeo, the royal temple, built in similar fashion to the Wat Phra Kaeo in Bangkok.

The whole complex was built as a summer palace by King Mongkut, with construction finished in 1860.

The site was registered as an historical park on August 27, 1979, with two of the palace buildings now housing a branch of the Thai National Museum.

Petchaburi can easily be reached by train from BKK. This saves you the abysmal transfer to Thonburi and the southern bus station. A nightmare in traffic and there is almost always traffic. Sunday mornings is different.

Petchburi is a small and nice place. Friendly people and good food.

It has 2 small and nice khmer temples reasonably restored and then the hill with the 19th century palace. You may let your honey walk up the hill but you will pay dearly once she notices the cable car service coming up from the other side. hmmmmm
Lots of monkeys are after your food and anything you dont watch carefully. The entrance fee to the museum is not too bad and the exhibits are more curios than impressive. 19th century adaptations of European royal life styles as you see them in bangkok and bang Pa in.
The view from the top is really nice.
Down the hill (cable car side) you can catch a bus to Ratchaburi and nakon patom. Both have nice national museums and nakon patom the famous chedi. Stop here and your honey will appreciate that she has the opportunity for merit making. Also a nice night market with food there.
