Google's Picasa is a popular program for photo editing, made even better by the ease with which you can upload to their album space as it automatically re-sizes the photos before uploading. What isn't generally known however is the fact you can link the pics to forums like this one, even if Google make it an unofficial policy to do so.

How to do

Firstly, bring up the photo on your album page at the full size (i.e. not the thumbnail), and then copy the link location by right clicking the pic and selecting 'copy link', or similar.
Next paste it into the message body as per usual using the 'insert image' icon. Having done this now amend the URL as follows:

h*tp://lh4.google.com/your_name/R2e8RIZsr4I/AAAAAAAABZY/O7ZLdOyV_Vc/PB050534.JPG?imgmax=800

should be changed to...........

h*tp://lh4.google.com/your_name/R2e8RIZsr4I/AAAAAAAABZY/O7ZLdOyV_Vc/s800/PB050534.JPG

Notice I've deleted the '?imgmax=800' and added '/s800' to the URL. The s800 refers to the max. width in pixels which in this case is 800, though you can change it to suit, i.e. s320 for example if you want a smaller pic.


N.B
I've also had to alter the board code here to get a correct display for this topic, as normally you would have [img] at both ends of the URL, along with http and not h*tp.

It it an unofficial thing that you can link ? At least when I log on there is a link provided for the pic - just for that purpose. I will try adding a random pic to see if it doesn't work - "out of the box"

Yes, there is no explanation from Google about how to do this, only how to link an album or use HTML for a web page. Photofucket is still the best for multiple photos, but you are stuck with a single size.

Actually what I meant to say was "Well done Laawman" - I enjoy to look at the pics - so any help to get people to post them is good

Maybe a bit off topic but try flickr. It's very user friendly and also it gives you option as to which resolution you want to hotlink and it provides you with the links below for forum.

The main problem I found with Flickr is that they only give you a few sub-albums to arrange your photos in, which is a mite inconvenient when you have hundreds if not thousands hosted on their site.
