I'll be visiting Koh Chang in November (high season) and am having a tough time settling on a hotel since I've never been there.

Does one need a reservation before going and if so does anybody have any recommendations? Which beach would be the best? I'm looking for something quiet yet close to some nightlife if that's possible on Koh Chang.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

There isnt much nightlife in Kho Chang apart from eating BBQ food on the beach which is nice if you are with a girl but otherwise quite lonely all on your jack jones. Some small bars scattered around with below average bar girls that are not too serious about hooking up. Book ahead if its high season or Songkran, my favorite place is near the white sands beach

Yep, get somewhere close to White Sand Beach. There a few bars and one complex (but that was very quiet last time I was there) and there are some lookers around. I actually found a late night club close to WSB but sorry I cannot remember the name of it. It was packed with FL's until 2am.
Great fun!

I have never booked and have always managed to find decent accommodation after driving around a bit.

The main Beach is called Saiw Kaew (aka White/Diamond Sand). It has a place called Ploys Pub on it. There is a club inside that was packed with freelancers til all hours. I had bought Teelak with me so i didnt Monger but i saw a few blokes picking up there.This was 5 days ago so its real time info. WARNING - There are many high-so Thai girls in the place who arent "available". Careful what you grab or it could end in tears.

There is also a place called Slim Pub about 20 mentres before the entrance to the national park. They have Cayote's and Karaoke. Saw some of the girls sitting outside and there were some definate lookers amongst them. It opens at 10.00pm. Girls definately avcailable as i saw price negotiations going on outside at 2.00am.

I only got back to Oz a few days ago so give me a week or two and i'll post a TR with info on Accomodation/pics and other stuff.
