Any one know why after down loading most but not all vid files and playing them in Real player or Windows media player,they play fine but the fast forward/rewind function's dont work?

A quick google search turned this up as the first result. Basically, you need to use a different player. BS Player works splendidly for me, and it's a part of K-lite Mega codec pack. However, please note that if t's a *.wmv or *.asf, it's quite a bit trickier. I can assist you with those if my previous recommendation doesn't work.
