I bought my laptop 2 years ago and have had Norton Antivirus the whole time on my computer for some reason. Anyway i had to wipe my HD a while ago and start again. I had Norton for a couple of weeks but now it has run out. How can i get it for free, and if i can't how much is it? Or does anyone else have any other suggestions?

Norton is a memory hogger, i always used it myself but then found that some of the free products are just as good and faster.

Try this instead, but if you want Norton I will get a link for you later and give you instructions on how to crack it to get it free

Zone Alarm have a free version of their highly-rated firewall, which is a huge step up from Windows own one. I don't know if AVG has one bundled, bit if not...here's the link for the download. Zone Alarm Firewall Download

I've been using AVG for about two years now and never had any faults with it. Updates come through very regular, more frequent than Norton, and the firewall is first class, never had anything penetrate it yet. Highly Recommended Good_Job.gif

If you want to stay with Norton and want to make it last longer, turn back the date on your PC before installing.
Example, change your PC date to 2012 and then install it. After it's installed, change the PC date back to the real date and you'll get an extra 5 years out of it (or whatever date you go back to).

I used to do this as my Norton expired after 1 year.

But as panudate mentioned, Norton is a memory hog. I now use Avast home edition which is free and it's been good to me. You can download it free here:

I use Kaspersky and it is beaut. The free version is ok but the bought one comes with a pop up that lets U scan emails before they are downloaded. Great!! I am getting so much fucking spam now it pisses me off.

I've been using AVG for about 8 months now - however I've not been surfing those porn sites for videos downloads (you know the ones that can give you a virus) so I've no idea how good it is at zapping these?

So any AVG users out there - does it find/zap your porn viruses?

Thanks

I know I'll get some flak ... but get a Mac!

All the virus bolllocks you get with Microsoft just disappears, sure there are problems with software limitations compared to PCs, but a price well worth paying not to have to update your anti-virus every hour you're online! I just have the standard OSX software and can be fairly casual about updating when the automatic anti-virus updates come through. Macs are competitive on price now and I'm no afficionado, I actually think most computers are c***, but a great tool for keeping up to date with what's going on in the world, especially in Pattaya 07.gif Drunk1.gif :tits1:

However, I'd prefer that not too many realise, as the relative low numbers of Mac users make it unappealing to the s**** who write the virus programs rolleyes.gif

... ZoneAlarm I've heard good things about and Norton I'd avoid like the plague.

I've been using AVG for several years now and haven't encountered any viruses. The product integrates with Outlook as well, so e-mail is also protected. Updates are frequent and installation / management is very simple.

I wouldn't use anything else now.

Set up your email with fastmail.fm - they use Kaspersky and SpamAssassin, cuts spam to almost zero, free for low useage or you can pay for greater bandwidth/storage, but worth it if you want to avoid having to check through loads of spam, in case a message you want has been incorrectly binned.
