Well it’s that time of the year again when I have to re-new my retirement Visa, I arrived at Pattaya Immigration Police at 8:35 and took a number for desk #8 which is retirement visa section for which I was next! My number was called and when I got to the desk a English gentleman was sitting with the police officer saying he never had to show that he owned a home before for his visa renewal and left and I sat down handed the cop all my forms and a picture, he looked everything over and told me to go to desk #4 and pay for my visa, which I did and returned to him and then handed my paper work to the lady behind him and told me to go to her desk. She went through all my forms and started asking me some questions.
1. How do you receive your income? I told her I was retired from the US Navy.
2. Do you have a US Navy retired ID? I said yes I do her it is and pulled it from my wallet, which she went and made a copy of it.
3. Do you own your home? I said no I rent.
4. Do you rent from a foreigner or from a Thai? I said I rent from an agency.
5. Next she asked me how much I paid for rent? Which I told her.
6. Is that a house, apartment or cono? Its a house.


She handed me a number and said come back at 2:30. This is the first time I have been asked these questions down at immigration so be prepared when you go! Has any body been asked the same questions? This is my 3rd renewal and the first time I have been asked any of the bove.

Are they using the visa renewal process to try and sniff out falang land/home owners ?

Just go rent a room on soi 6 , get a recipt and tell them you are living there !!!!, LOL

I would love it down there, but my TGF may not have the same sense of humor about it

Yea, went back at 2:30 and she gave me my passport and I said see you in 3 months for my 90 day report in!
