Well I decided to take the afternoon away from the computer and watch the head to head match up of Mike Weir vs Tiger Woods.

Things were going great for all of the Canuck golf fans as Weir was up 3 at the turn and had an opportunity to be up 4 on the 10th. Then he missed his putt!

That was the beginning of the slide and Tiger as per normal was quick to take advantage of the mistake. I am sure most other golf fans felt like I did, here comes the collapse. In just a few short holes Tiger came from three down to one up and with 2 holes to play I felt Weir was finished.

Then on 17 Weir managed to to take the hole and suddenly it was even heading to 18. Weir took his drive down the left side flirting with the water only to see it come up beautifully in the middle of the fairway170 yards from the green, I couldn't have scripted a better approach angle for him if I was writing fiction. Tiger also took his drive down the left side of the fairway out over the water but his luck was not so good and he lost it in the water and weeds. Now things are looking good for Mike, he's hitting 2 with a good approach in the middle of the fairway and Tiger is hitting 3 with a cut shot out of the rough.

Tiger plays his ball and comes up short in the bunker to the right front of the green. It had to be really difficult for Mike to control himself at this point but he plays his shot beautifully about 12-15 feet from the pin, an easy 2 putt.

It is now very tense as it would not be inconceiveable for Tiger to hole out from the bunker, he's done it before, but not so this time he rolls it close but not close enough and concedes the hole to Weir.

Mike Weir can now number himself among the few to survive a Tiger charge on a Sunday and among the even fewer that have fallen behind him on a Sunday and still come back to beat him.

Mike Weir was a captains pick for the internationals and ended up having the best week of anyone on the team, I'm certain there has never been a better captains pick in the history of the tournament.

Congratulations to Mike Weir one of the best Canadian Golfers ever.
