  1. DFA only works with advisor firms don't they? You can't buy them directly as you can with Vanguard.
  2. No hotel keeps your passport.
  3. The thread referenced in the OP is really old and might be confused between various Eastiny properties anyway. If anybody on the forum had stuff stolen in recent years, a search would turn it up. I stayed there recently and can say the following: The posted rack rate in the lobby is B1200 and that is the price they seriously tell you if you are a walk-in. I'm not sure if that includes breakfast. Prices on Agoda are way cheaper. The breakfast if purchased separately is B200. I didn't try it, so I don't know if it is any good. There is a safe down in the office area, but I don't think the looms have safes, even though the Agoda description might include one. The looms themselves are fine. There is a nice pool (that I didn't try). Looms on the 2nd road end of the building get a little "thumpa-thumpa" effect from music being played down at the bar beer complex.
  4. That is indeed a horrible consumer experience, but I believe that there is more than one way to skin a cat-phone. Unlock codes can often be obtained from other sources for much less. If the phone was here locally, I'll bet that some genius in Tukcomm could unlock it.
  5. Samsung store, Central Festival.
  6. I got my US-purchased phone unlocked for free with my carrier's blessing. Unlocking a phone isn't a big deal is it? I don't see this as a barrier.
  7. My limited experience gives me the impression that nearly all internationally known high-end electronic devices are more expensive in Thailand than the US. If it is cheaper, it is probably not legit for some reason. Is this too sweeping a generalization? As an aside, I want to buy a Huawei/Google Nexus 6P and I've never seen one in Pattaya yet.
  8. How about raising the rent to a flat 1000/night but include a complimentary barfine? Just an idea, but one I like.
  9. On the Agoda listings for any given room, make sure that the listing explicitly includes 2-way transfers as part of the rate (as in Whalley's example above). Some listings for airport area rooms do not include the transfers even though the hotel offers them in their list of services. In such a case you might have to pay extra.
  10. I just got a free 60-day single entry from the consulate in Vancouver. Good deal. All the better if they have extended the deal.
