Forum Upgrade March 2017 - Hints, Tips and Complaints   19/03/17

The forum is not down - just running very slowly due to the task of reindexing the millions of posts in the database due to an upgrade of the server software. Unfortunately it is difficult to predict how long this will take to complete so all BM's are implored to be patient. You can all help to speed this process by refraining from posting pointless stuff and please avoid uploading photos till it is finished.    Sometimes users are experiencing very slow page reads or error pages and this is caused by server load.    Please note that many of the old features are not available atm but this because they cannot be reinstated until the reindex is complete - so don't be too concerned about missing bits as yet. However .... please note any issues outside of this to this thread here where the Site Admins can then work out what needs to be reinstated when possible.   Current Progress as of 8pm Bangkok time 20 March 2017     Current Progress as of 2:30pm Bangkok time 21 March 2017     Current Progress as of 1:00pm Bangkok time 22 March 2017     Thank you for your patience and hopefully we can provide updates on progress

  1. The Pattaya city expats club referred me to the Bkk bank at 2nd road/soi 6. I only needed the useless residence letter from immigration (300 baht) and my passport. No scams regarding minimum deposits or insurance. I exited with my card and bank book in only a few minutes.
  2. VT6 is noisy as you have ambulances and bars all around you. It's also hot as the sun reflects off the water. The Base is further in from 2nd road than VT6. The rooms and pool are nice and quiet. Great views too. It's also brand new. VT6 is 10 years old.
  3. The Hive on soi Honey is only 120 baht with aircon and has an egg station outside. Nice buffet inside. The fruit salad is my favorite.
  4. This unit is at Spanish Condo opposite Nirun Condo on soi Arunotai (with another entrance on Sukhumvit). Might be good to get a bicycle or motorbike as everything is easy access from the condo.
  5. In Retox, most of the staff have worked with Simon for a long time. The longer they stay, the worse their attitudes. Even the new ones slowly go down the tubes. Some employees, in general, feel so secure (that they won't get sacked) and have made money for so long at their place of work that they start to feel like they own the boss and not the other way around. If I have even the slightest problem with a foreign owned business, I never discuss anything with the staff. I go right up the chain of command to manager or owner, if possible. The result is always a complementary of something. That's not my goal. My goal is to be the eyes and ears for the owner. I once had a little problem at Dairy Queen in Pattaya. I gave some feedback to their head office and they rushed to sort it out and reward me with gift certificates. Again, not my goal but I wouldn't refuse them and the branch is still my regular.
  6. Retox Game On on Soi Honey will open shortly.
