Forum Upgrade March 2017 - Hints, Tips and Complaints   19/03/17

The forum is now up again and running after the upgrade - there is still the task of searching for updated versions of apps and plugins from the old version and then download, upgrade and configure    Please note any issues outside of this to this thread here where the Site Admins can then work out what needs to be reinstated when possible.         Thank you for your patience and hopefully we can provide updates on progress

  1. The Thai Visa post - abolition of 90 day reporting in favour of 90 hour reporting - was an April Fool joke.
  2. Thanks for the tip! All almost working using IE to access the site and skipping through the security warning. Issues: 1. The 'print' icon at the foot of the final page froze all my screens. Closed down and re-opened IE and went to Check Status screen. Make sure you make a note of the application number before you close down. 2. Check Status screen required passport number and 90 day application number (see 1 above). It then showed the last four Approved Applications I submitted on-line in 2016. It does not show an approved application I submitted in person in January (not worried about that - got the hard copy tear-off approval slip from that application stapled in my passport).
  3. Whatever details about GF's employment you choose to put on the form, make sure they're consistent with those that appeared on her first two (successful) applications.
  4. She'll need an 'L' class visa (tourist); applications to the Chinese embassy in Bangkok. Official web-site with rules, regs and downloadable application form here: There's a body called the Chinese Visa Application Service Center that claims it can take the pain out of applications (never used it personally). Web-site here - duplicates a lot on the embassy web-site (it's officially endorsed by the embassy), but has some useful stuff.
  5. OP: Work experience to date?
  6. As at Saturday morning, Krungthai Bank is still charging 200 baht for foreign ATM withdrawals.
  7. Visits are built in to the protocols for those seeing visas/extensions on grounds of Marriage to a Thai. Don't always happen though ....
  8. Dunno if this is happening at Chonburi/Pattaya, but in Chiang Mai, 90 day reports are being declined unless the applicant has a valid TM30 receipt. (TM30 is the form for housemasters/condo owners to certify that you are in residence). Formally, TM30 has to be submitted within 24 hours of the falang's arrival in Thailand even if, in all other respects, entry visa/extensionof stay is in order. Failure to do so prompts a 1,600 baht fine. Never previously been an issue for me over the last ten years at BKK or Chiang Mai Immigration.
  9. How lucky you are... those obliged to use Chiang Mai Immigration need to be in queue not much later than 03.00hrs (rpt 03.00hrs) to guarantee being seen on the same day. Pages of gripes on Thai Visa.
  10. ^^ Used the postal service last year. Took six working days.
  11. It's been down for c. 3 weeks.
  12. No such thing as a 'girlfriend' visa and I assume you're not thinking of a Fiancee Visa. See
  14. Conrad is closest - almost directly opposite the US embassy.
