Forum Upgrade March 2017 - Hints, Tips and Complaints   19/03/17

The forum is now up again and running after the upgrade - there is still the task of searching for updated versions of apps and plugins from the old version and then download, upgrade and configure    Please note any issues outside of this to this thread here where the Site Admins can then work out what needs to be reinstated when possible.         Thank you for your patience and hopefully we can provide updates on progress

  1. Are you allowed to travel to Schengen countries on a UK visa?
  2. Because of it's history it is probably something you had to do, even just once. With the parking lot and the (then) popular Nana disco it was Monger Central. Great breakfast buffet as well. I think Nana's infamous rep has diminished somewhat, and I'ld probably look for sth better in the area, but I'ld have no problems in staying there again for a few nights for old times sake.
  3. Some, if not most of the rooms in that area are already vey competitively priced and as such don't offer monthly rates. Most will get fully booked anyway. I've stayed at Metro Guesthouse before and loved it, if thats the same as what was offered to you. That was however a while ago, before the Gogo's came en masse to LK Metro.
  4. Wouldn't want to be without booking around the holidays. Not saying you will not find sth suitable, but it might be a long search, and a bit off the beaten track. Last time I spent a pretty long time looking and I needed the help of my resident friends to find sth decent at acceptable price.
  5. Be sure to reconfirm your booking. I got there (a while ago admittedly) on Xmas day and they didn't have my reservation. Sure, They were helpfull enough to find me another hotel for the first 2 days, but I reconfirm every booking since,
  6. I found a 50€ bill once, but threw it away, obviously false. It was purple and had one zero too much.
  7. A lot of problems stem from the fact the €-zone is a monetary Union, but not a political one. That's obviously not the case with other currencies. What you get is bail outs after mismanagement. Last time it was Cyprus after their banks collapsed, although they had been warned. Did you know that people in Cyprus per capita have one of the highest financial assets in the EU?
  8. Great post andy. Realistically your current qualifications would get you nowhere internationally.. Without money to create your own opportunities it'll most likely gonna be just surviving. Like others said, Oil & Gas, or mining are your best bet of earning good money, with lots of time off, and possibly stationed in or near Thailand. I guess it's either that, or develop a skill, which would take time. I'm afraid your options are limited if you want to make money instead of barely surviving, anywhere, but even more so in Thailand.
  9. I figure the difference in price can be easily 1000Bht/day comparing a solid, reputable guesthouse to a solid reputable hotel without losing any comfort in your room. I'ld rather spend that 1000Bht where and when I want, and eat and swim when and where I want. But that's just in Pattaya, anywhere else in Thailand I go for a 3-5 star hotel/resort with all facilities..
  10. Sure, prices will go up. I don't think it's that bad, considering Thailand's been a booming economy for years now. For airfees, lodging and food, bike/car rentals, I still pay the same prices I did 10 yrs ago. For me it's just the nightlife that's become a lot dearer. On a sidenote, I always wondered why beer is so expensive in LoS. Even in supermarkets it's more expensive then back home.
  11. Yes I am, m8, I'ld like to think so anywayz ;) LOL PM is on its way Bryan m8.
  12. hello guys Due to circumstances I'm a bit ;) late with the room/ticket bookings this year. I am urgently looking for a decent room to stay for at least 2 weeks; starting 26 december. The hotels I usually stay at (Metro appartments, Robins Nest to name a few) are fully booked, or I
