Most of us have been involved in office politics in our jobs but it is nothing like the "Office Politics" in the go gos.

We sit in the go gos and see the girls smiling and talking to each other but if you understand some Thai or Issan you hear the feuds between some of the ladies.

Have seen one lady slap another in the go go, which cost her 1000 baht because mamasan also noticed. So the next time she made sure she slapped the lady again but this time outside the go go. Why did it occur? Because she wasnt getting any ladies drinks and felt the other lady was taking all her customers. To me the lady who "earned" the attention was making sure she gave the guys a good time while the other lady just sat in the corner and sulked.

Have seen rival ladies "accidently" cut their "competitors" with their high heels as they were fighting over ping pong balls. And have heard it is not uncommon for an "accidental elbow to land on a beak.

The dirty tricks dont stop there. For some, if a lady looks like she is about to break free from the go go through sponcership or a boyfriend some will go out of their way to sabatage the relationship.

At the very least most of the ladies have to deal with some problem or issue involving their working sisters.

Most ladies have at least one other lady to watch her back, sort of a wing man (woman). They are very clicky.

It really is a different world and then the ladies have some really great customers and unfortunately some who are not. Who either dont pay them or abuse them. And yes, their are some great girls and some that should no longer be in the business. I have found, if a guy can spend sometime in a particular go go he can pick out which ones are the ones that will give him the best bang for his buck. And it also gets easier to pick out which ones not to select. For those that live in Thailand, they have a definate advantage, especially in low season.

Most of the ladies only get 3 days off a month. Other time they take off is unpaid. They are working straight nights which is difficult. Most of them live in cheaper condos with no air conditioning and located in a place which has a high degree of noise. Many have to live with another lady to share the costs. They work away from their families. Most of their familes put some degree of "pressure" on them to send money home.

So when I go into the go go and see the ladies who are working their butts off so we can enjoy ourselves, I am thankful! Especially thankful for the ones that really really go out of their way, so to speak.

And I dont mind paying a little extra for the drinks either, because if it wasnt for the owners and operators of the go gos, Thailand wouldnt be as enjoyable.

These are just some of my opinions, some may agree, some may disagree but for me Thailand is an awesome place to be!

Three Russians accused of smoking Marijuana in front of South Pattaya restaurant

Three Russian Tourists were caught smoking Marijuana outside of a Restaurant in South Pattaya in the early hours of Monday. Region 2 Police were on routine patrol when they caught the strong odor of Marijuana outside the Restaurant where patrons are often seen using Hookah pipes. On this occasion the Russians were seen placing Marijuana on the Hookah’s and were approached and arrested. Mr. Evgeny Ukolov aged 30, Mr. Ivshin Genwani aged 28 and Mrs. Ukolva Oksana aged 30 were taken to the Police Station and all urine tested but were found not to have consumed other illegal drugs such as Methamphetamine. 3.53g of Marijuana was seized and placed into evidence and they were charged with possession of a class 5 drug.

I'm a late 20's male who is a virgin. Yes, a virgin. It has been frustrating to see most of my friends get married, move on and have kids while my socially inept self has been unable to find a partner of any sort. Never had a date, a kiss, left alone holding hands. I know this forum is not for any advice regarding this and I am not looking for it. I am simply asking if Pattaya would be a right place for me to get this off my back and maybe gain some confidence and experience despite paying money for it.

Having lurked the forums, it seems a lot of people who go there are experienced folks and or have wives/gf's back at home. Since this has bothered me for a very long time, with some vacation time and money, I decided to get this off my chest.

Do you guys think Pattaya will be a good idea for someone as inexperienced as I am? Other places like amsterdam be better? Or just local?

I'm guessing it will be written all over my face. Will the girls mind if I am so inexperienced? Will I have trouble getting serviced or its a matter of money only? I'm also average or below average in size and would have no idea WTF I'm doing as my first time...

A lot of you give some social tips on what to say / how to react. For someone as socially inept as myself, would this be a good place to go if I just want sex and over with?

Any comments are appreciated.

retirement visa and 90 day reporting

I have lived in Pattaya for three years now and have had no trouble getting my retirement visa renewed.My next application is due 4th April.After I recieve that I am thinking of relocating to Udon Thani.
Does anyone know if it will be O.K. for me to report every 90 days in Udon and come back to Pattaya for the renewal of my retirement visa next April please.

I dont plan to specifically sunbathe. And if I did at the beach one day I will wear sunscreen.

BUt in general walking aroung pattata/thailand etc..if you have a cap on and are trying to avoid direct sun do you guys still wear suncream and recommend it and reaaply it often?

Just made my first trip to the Soi Cowboy.
Very nice, comfortable atmosphere...suprisingly. I was worried.
Strolled into many of the bars.
No pressure from the girls from any of them.
Was suprised to see DJ's in some, spinning records.
I will certainly be back, in about 1.5 weeks, and will take note more carefully of the bar names, that I enter.

This girl is not very popular. In November she can't afford room, so she stay in room with her friend. In December she manage to get enough money to get a room.

Imagine factory hall. Big factory hall divided by chipboard plate to small rooms. Doors aren't doors, again chipboard plate with hinges and padlock. One square room for one girl. Toilet and shower is common for all girls. She pay 1000 baht/month.

I am sure this topic was addressed before, but I want the most up to date info. I have stayed at LK renassance duing my trips. While I enjoy a stay there (beautiful room, friendly staff, good price, no extra charge for lady) I find that location is rather too far from the walking street. Is there a hotel that have similar above features that are much closer to walking street? Thanks!

So here I am at the cross roads of life and would like to hear back from anyone who has gone through the same thing?

My Western Wife and I are from NSW Australia, married for 9 years, had a business in OZ (lost it to tax man and creditors years ago ), depleted portfolio but still OK, no kids, both executive professionals, living and working in the Middle East (been an expat over the last 17 years on and off) earning top coin, travel to Thailand at least twice a year for vacation and we have constantly fought over the years which has really weared us both down now.
We are now at the terms of virtually every time we argue we mention divorce and its over etc and she is nearing the end of her window of opportunity, as she reminds me now and then and we have no sex life anymore (its been 6 months or more since we did the hokey pokey ) ironically. She threatens me alot with the divorce bit and I generally patch things up and move on.
I don’t want to be the burden or the person who wasted her life and chances of children which makes me feel guilty sometimes because all I dream about is setting my life up in Thailand and particularly Pattaya. Anyway, eventually we get over these arguments, things get back to normal for a bit and do love my Wife but it feels more of a companion love relationship rather than true love. To tell you the truth I am fed up with Western woman’s ways with her bickering, mind games, drunk abuse, nagging/do this/do that etc...
The thing is I just have this gut feeling that if I do go through with this split up from her that I will feel that I have screwed up my whole life because of my desire for Thailand and way of life there due to coming from a strong Irish background family values. If this was to happen it would be prudent to say that I have no interest in getting married again for a good while anyway and want to live the life of Reilly and set myself up for retirement.

The Plan is if I follow through - Shall continue to live and work in the Middle East for another 5 years to make bank and take my regular holidays to Thailand/Pattaya, eventually own 4+ condos in Pattaya to rent out (have bought 1 so far on the quite at Atlantis ready in 2014 they say) and receive monthly funds to survive on with out touching savings. May even run/buy a business in Pattaya with a convenience store or something along these lines to keep me occupied and out of the beer bars every day etc.

BUT, I am packing/sh*ting myself to make the change and finally call it off with her here and move on because we have done so much together and she has stood by me regardless of some pretty tough times, we have made plans to build this beautiful house on a block we have in a marina in OZ (and have a family) the photo album history makes me sad and I know that there is no turning back if I go through with this. Therefore I am wondering if there is anyone in this forum who has gone through the same ordeal and could share some before and after experiences and if there is any older boys here that have regrets?

DO you think that thai guys or bar girls or whatever specifially seek out (i mean make efforts) to see any lone travellers. And then try to find way to con/rob etc from them.

I mean if I were a poor 3rd world person I would do that. I would look for easy targerts, find out where they go, where they stay etc....I also think lone traveller would stand out more and be easily noticed after a few days.....eg. I was alone for a bit before and this girl in a bar said ''i See you everyday, you walk in soi ??, and stay in ??, why i see u always alone''etc.. so this girl I never seen in my puff knew everything about me...scary?

Obviously if you look like Rambo then I dont think its as much an issue but still im skinny. Gotta be somewhat of an easy targert.

Well off course many people travel to Thailand in groups and alone for various reasons. Its one of the worlds no.1 holiday destinations.

jesus, i nearly got one ............ i just checked the price of flights from dublin to bkk for the end of feb. all airlines are looking for in excess of 1100 euro. fuck!!!! i often left purchasing until the last minute, however i never saw the prices this high.

however i checked for next september................640.00 euro...............never saw it as cheap!!!!!

I was in Phuket last November with some mates and had a lot of fun there.Iv been to bangkok too but Phuket was relatively expensive in food,accomadation,bar fines,joiner fees,girls,taxis

I know u guys are pros in Pattaya,me and some guys are gping to make a trip there.

Can you compare pattaya and Phuket, as both hav water sports and all those fancy island tours plus all parties and women

for us going for the 1 time to Pattaya,should we stay in Soi 6???

I always enjoy reading gogo reviews so last year I hoped to visit as many as possible and review them. Unfortunately two thirds of the way through my trip my laptop hard drive died. When I returned home my internet connection didn't work for a few weeks and then my paper notes got accidentally destroyed. As such I never managed to finish what I started.

I am however giving it another go in 2012 as I love visiting Gogos and fingers crossed I plan to visit, review and rate over 60 gogos across Pattaya.

I may consider or comment on the following factors:- Quality, quantity and attitude of girls, the level of interaction, standard of service, the atmosphere, the décor, the music and the value for money.

The scoring scale I will use is shown below. It will be very difficult to for a gogo to score a 4.5 or a 5 and most gogo's will score in the 2-3 range. I expect Smile Rock a GoGo to score lower than that

5 = Outstanding
4.5 = Excellent
4 = Very Good
3.5 = Good
3 = Above Average
2.5 = Average
2 = Below Average
1.5 = Poor
1 = Very Poor
0.5 = Terrible
0 = Disaster Zone

My reviews and scores will be my unbiased opinion as I have no links or allegiances with any individuals or establishments in Pattaya. My scoring has been described in the past as being harsh but I think it is firm but fair.

As my own Doctor is an utter turd when asked for a few sleepers for flight travel, and now refuses point blank (yes change doctor !) to prescribe I was wondering if BM's had up to date info on meds that may be available over the counter.....

Doesn't have to be Xanax etc, as Diazepam is fine...

I have just got back from a short stay in the Irish Rovers guesthouse on LK Metro. Although it is quite well known on this forum, it doesn't seem to have a review thread, so I thought I would write a few words.

First of all, it is one of the very few Pattaya guesthouses that can be booked through Agoda. If you like the convenience of pre-paying your bill and being able to instantly see availability, then this is a very big plus. I tend to travel at short notice, and hate to have to wait for people to get back in touch by e-mail (if the first couple of places I try are fully booked, and each one takes a day to reply - then it can take several days to actually make a booking). This is a small guesthouse over a small sports bar in LK Metro. It is certainly a clean, professionally run and secure establishment. Their standard rooms are small and very basic - far too small for my liking. The superior rooms are very different, though. They are as comfortable as many far more expensive hotels that I have stayed in, and have a balcony looking out over LK Metro itself. There is a decent amount of storage space, and the bathrooms are basic but quite large. There is no tub - the entire room effectively being a shower cubicle, and the only toiletries provided is a tiny bar of soap (although that is fairly standard for budget hotels and guesthouses). There is fast, reliable and free wifi - both in the bar and in the rooms. Although I didn't spend a lot of time in it, the bar seemed very nice, with a laid back atmosphere and western food. It has big TVs showing various sports and darts and pool facilities. They organise golf and football, as well as bar crawls and other outings.

The staff are great. The manager is a nice guy who runs an efficient operation, the girls in the bar are a friendly and helpful bunch and the cleaners are wonderfully efficient. Generally every time I went out, the room was sparkling clean when I came back and one time when I was only out for about 10 minutes, the cleaning girl sheepishly came up to me and apologised for not having cleaned it yet! I arrived at nearly 1am, and there was a mix-up with rooms (I had booked a superior, but all that was available was a standard). This is the sort of mistake that could happen to anyone, and it was fixed quickly. I did have to spend that first night in the small room, but I was moved to the much nicer superior room the following morning. This does mean that I got to experience both types of rooms, though.

There are a few downsides. There is no getting away from the fact that there is some noise - both from the street and from the bar. Actually, it wasn't as bad as I expected and didn't bother me in the slightest, but it would bother very light sleepers. However, if street noise bothers you then you probably don't want to be staying on LK Metro! The room safes aren't very secure - they are the very common sort that can, famously, be opened with a potato! That said, the bar is open 24 hours, so there are always staff on duty - so I was never particularly worried about security. The air conditioning worked well (rather too well, actually, it could make the rooms very cold!) but it was very noisy. I don't like having air conditioning on all night, much preferring ceiling fans - after a quick aircon blast to cool the room down. Oddly enough there was a fan in the smaller "standard" room, but not in the larger "superior" one. That meant, in the superior room the only options were to have the noisy aircon on all night, to open the windows (although, with the noise outside that would be a very loud option) or to get very hot. As is the case with almost all guest houses and very small hotels, you should be aware that the rooms are up several flights of stairs - so if you have problems climbing stairs then you should probably stick to bigger hotels. However, these are minor gripes in what was generally a very positive experience.

In short, I was very happy with my stay here. It certainly does represent outstanding value for money (the rooms currently being 500-800 baht, depending upon the room and time of year). I certainly recommend the superior rooms, and hope to stay there again in future. I wouldn't personally like to stay in the standard rooms (they were OK for that first night, but I was very glad to get into the much nicer superior room). However, if you aren't bothered by a tiny and very basic room then these might suit you.

2012 DARKSIDE Bar and Restaurant HOPPING MAP

Hi, Lads.

With the help of Jebb, we did a tour of the DARKSIDE and came up with the latest Bar and Restaurant Guide Map.

I have turned the Map upside down to make it easier starting from the Sukhimvit Road.

I've also had some help from our Pal ( Hammer ) Who add a few.

I don't live over that side so I'm not 100% sure if these places are Good or Bad.

Please add your comments and I will try and get it right next time.

Too young to goto LOS?

I'm 31 and have had a long term girl for about 4 years. we split about 9 months ago (my choice wanted to focus on career goals and health, honestly never been doing better health and career wise).

I've had a few girls since then, but I'm still focused on my goals. I've been drawn to LOS for what appears to be excitement, cheap prices, nightlife, exotic women, oh and the ability to just walk out side and p4p

I've had a heard time convincing friends to go. As their either married with kids, have never left the US (ive travled internationally several times) or refer to Thailand as the place where old men goto retire and p4p.

With that being said at 31 would I be considered to "young" to travel to LOS and dive into the international p4p world?
