Greetings all

With all the negative stories you read and hear about in regards to visas and agents, I wanted to share my latest experience.

On Monday 25th June 2012 at 11:00am I entered the immigration department in Adelaide South Australia to pay for a Partner visa for my now wife who had entered Australia on a Prospective Marriage Visa(South Australian Partner Visas get processed in Perth Western Australia). I was asked how I was going to pay the fee and it was my intention to pay by using EFTPOS (savings account).

The lady asked if I had all the relevant application papers and documents with me which I did. She advised me that by paying this way I could pay for and lodge the visa application at the same time which would start the process and they would transfer the application for me to Perth Western Australia for a case manager to review and make a decision which could take between 9 -12 months for a decision.

By 11:45am application was lodged, paid for and I had a letter of acknowledgement of partner visa application received.

Well by this time I was I was feeling fairly lucky as it all went smoothly and I did not have to pay Australia Post or a courier to send our application to Perth.

Friday 29th June 2012 at 3pm I receive a call from a case manger in Perth in regards to our application and that the first stage of this visa had been grated!

WOW! I could not believe that it had been lodged on a Monday and approved by the following Friday!

I put all the application together myself using the checklist immigration supplies and info I have researched.

Thank you to everyone who has posted constructive information for others to use!

I think they quote stupid times for those who really dont follow the instructions for the requirements (you know the information ping pong between appllcant and department).

My application for my (now) ex was 6 weeks approved from application to approval. We did use an agent, but frankly for the spouse Visa I dont think we needed to do so.

Good on you......

Yeah we had a pretty smooth run also. Mind you she had been out for a month, then 3 months. Applied January and got the visa by May....same for the Permanent Residence visa. We just went through the immigration office in Bangkok and my GF/now wife went to the interview herself, which apparently helped...
