I want to get two more pages done tonight, I might treat myself and go for an easy one like the "Contact us" page because that will be a doddle.
Continuous aggressive attack!
Need to replace these pale farang fatties with little Thai sweethearts!

Really interesting stuff, the way you're describing it makes it sound possible and the proof that it's possible is that you're living it right now.
I really should get started shouldn't I?

If you are interested in living in Thailand and making a lot of money, then yes
I started this 6 months ago, and have had to figure it all out on my own. Bryan is giving everyone some extremely valuable information here, and its a fantastic opportunity to get a head start. To be blunt, if you want to live in Thailand within a couple of years, follow what he is saying, develop it, multiply x 100 and pack some ice for your cock.

Currently working on a site too, where i knew about the subject before very basically, i didnt really know anything usefull at all.
The information here really will save you a lot of time and point you in a direction it might take months to years to find by trial and error.
I would add all the subjects here will need a little re-search doing by yourself to just get an idea of what your doing and why.
so make sure you do a little further reading on digital point.
I cant wait to see some of the results of this thread.
Currently working on a site approx 20 which i will add to make up to about 30 pages inc content and eventually once traffic is going to tthe site add a forum.
i am targeting a relatively competitive keyword but nothing in the forex or finacial sectors so should be good to see how it goes.
I have created the basic site tonight with banner and created about 20 of the pages with page descriptions but no content for each page yet apart from home page. So i have a framework i just need to fill in the gaps.
Tomorrow will concentrate on writing a few more of the pages of content/articles
Register my adsense acc
Look for a new hosting company as my free one sucks.

I'll contribute some information that won't deviate from your thread which is to work through one example. This is the way to avoid confusion.
I do Web design myself and have recently started with IM. The biggest niche market in Internet Marketing is IM itself, of course, and everybody and his dog is trying to sell you something. The market is full of promises of instant wealth and instant website traffic. Most of it is hype. Also beware of information overload if and when you enter your email address to marketing lists. It will stop you from getting anything done.
I personally use Dreamweaver and Wordpress. Wordpress is reasonable and free but I agree it has limitations. I personally hate the typical Wordpress Sales pages that go on for 7-8 yards of scrolling and are full of hard sell. However, if you want a free tutorial on Wordpress you can visit http://TheWordpressClassroom.com.
As for hosting, I would add www.justhost.com and www.one.com. One.com is a Danish company and have support centres in Norway, Denmark and England. They have Live Chat support and they are CHEAP. $U.S. 1.45/month for basic hosting ($17.40/year) I use them for a couple of my sites and have found them very good.
What is essential is to use a company that uses cpanel as their user interface. It allows you to install a large number of programs like Wordpress, Joomla, shopping carts, all complete with a MySQL database with a single mouse-click
As a few questions have been asked about "Finding a Market Niche", I'll add some tips and hope this contributes to the thread. It is taken from a 50 page eBook I am currently writing about "Making a Living Online", a book I will be giving away for free. I apologise for the poor formatting below, the original is in PDF format and properly set out.
Chapter 6 Select your market niche
You need to find a profitable niche market. You should select a market niche that has the following characteristics:
- A high volume of buyers wiling to buy a solution to an existing problem.
- Existing competition within the market. High competition signals an active market but excessive competition would make it difficult for you to penetrate the market niche.
- A market that offers both high quantity and a range pf high quality products.
You may know already what you want to sell. If not, here are a number of steps you can take in order to find a market where products are in high demand:
Finding examples of high demand products
1.Visit www.amazon.com
a)Select a Category under the heading “Shop all Departments”.
b)Select a sub-category where multiple products are displayed.
c)In the right-hand column, select “See bestselling products in category”.
2.Visit www.ebay.com
a)List different product categories.
b)Scroll down to the bottom of the page and view bestsellers.
3.Visit www.clickbank.com
a)Select Marketplace.
b)Select a category.
c)Look for “hot” products with large volume sales. The “grav” rating is a comparative value that indicates how many affiliates are selling a particular product.
More detailed research
As a start, enter the search phrase “Niche markets 2010” in Google and visit some of the sites listed. From my own research, here are a few niche markets that will be high on the agenda for people in 2010.
- Cost cutting advice.
- How to find or keep a job.
- Work at home topics.
- Mobile phones and social networking from your mobile gadget .
- Plan for better health.
- Weight loss, diets, exercise and fitness, health and wellness.
Whichever niche market may interest, you need to research the issues that are of concern to your target audience. In other words, what are their wants, needs, problems and hot buttons? This is how you get started on this:
1.Taking the “Cost cutting advice” market as an example, enter a number of keyword variations into Google (search phrases people are likely to enter in order to find information on this subject). For example, enter “saving on home energy costs” (include the quotation marks).
a)View the listing displayed for ideas on products or information.
b)View the right-hand column where Google PPC advertisements are displayed. The more ads, the more marketers are paying to promote this niche market.
c)Use variations on the keyword phrase, e.g. “cost cutting ideas for home” and “cost cutting ideas for business”.
2.When you find a popular listing, note the keyword you used and find out how many searches it gets per month.
a)Use the Google keyword tool at http://adwords.googl...rdToolExternal.
b)Use www.nichebotclassic.com to find the number of monthly searches on the Google, Yahoo and Bing search engines.
c)Find forums for your niche market. Enter the phrase +”yourniche” +forum or +”yourniche” +”discussionboard” into Google. Here you will find what topics are discussed within your niche market.
Hope this helps.

I'm a bit of a neophyte when it comes to web design, not having done anything on my own since the "Netscape Navigator Gold" days, if that means anything to you.
I'm 49, work in industrial sales, and have a hobby business selling vinyl records on a website I payed someone else to develop for me.
THIS, though, sounds like exactly the opportunity I've been looking for.
Would it be advisable to take a few basic classes on SEO or web design at the local community college (at night or on weekends?) or is that a waste of time?

1. Although the the end goal may be to have multiple sites - I think the best way to start is to concentrate on developing one really good site (and then move to the next one).
2. Focus on repeat visitor - i.e. having good content - repeat visitors are more likely to click on ads.
3. A lot of persistence is required to make money - you aren't going to make enough to cover your effort in the short term.
Can't think of a better modern day area of opportunity than the internet! This is where entrepreneurs should roam - think of past opportunities that were obvious on reflection - VHS rental - in the early days - further back selling mining equipment (gold rush). The other area might be Mobile Phone apps (if you are a programmer). On that topic -
4. Think about designing with a view to viewing on mobile devices (Mobile phones I-Pads?) - smaller screen and lack of keyboard.

there are other advertisers available to use but i think best to stick to just adsense with one thread.(plus its by a long way the largest community)

couple of questions:
accounting: Do you have to check adsense, et al? Are there stats? How do you know they are coughing up the correct cash?
maintenance: you mentioned money for life from a site with one week investment. Is this without maintaining? Or if you are managing the content, would the value earned typically rise? And if not would it not fade into obscurity?
I have been involved in long term software projects (years). Don't want to invest that sort of time in something that may fail again. Like this idea better - and perhaps smaller apps for iphone/ipad...
cheers
