A friend of mine just got back from his trip to the Immigration Office in Jomtien.

He was told he had to have the normal form filled in + Proof of Address + 3 copies of the main pages in his passport.

Everybody was in line at the Photo Copy Shop nextdoor having all the papers done foe 35 Baht.

Some people never had their Proof of Address and had to go back to their home to get it.

I went for my 90 days a week ago and I needed NONE of these.

Anyway it`s nice to be forwarned.

Cheers

what would constitute a "proof of address"? Like a utility bill or do you mean something more formal?

I also went for a 90 day about a fortnight ago, a breeze, in and out in under 5 minutes, none of this crap posted here.

Anyway, it's farang bashing season again, tightening of various visa world-wide, now some extra totally-unnecessary bullshit with the 90 days.

I suspect the new gov' (at the instigation of Mr Takky) will soon be bringing in visa price hikes and tougher regulations for all sorts of visas.

I did my 90 day check-in yesterday in Bangkok.  Nothing asked for apart from the usual form TM47.

Just wondering if this was a case of guys reporting for their 90 days looking tawdry. When dealing with immigration/customs/officials it always pays to look your best and be smart and prosperous looking. I see guys all the time, crossing the borders on visa runs and they look like they penniless bums and sleeping rough. Guys obviously hungover and unshaven wearing flips and shorts and singlets. So in cases like these it's only natural immigration would want to see proof of address and income and such things. It pays to smarten up for these official events. Just something to think about. :-)

The Rules have changed on the 1/8/2011 in Pattaya for the 90 day address reporting, extra paper work needed as below

►90 Day Address Reporting: NEW REQUIREMENTS - Barry Kenyon announced at the August 1 meeting that Immigration Headquarters has instructed their Offices to require additional documentation to be submitted with the TM 47 - 90 day address report:
 Copy of passport Face Page
 Copy of latest Immigration Permission to Stay Stamp
 Copy of TM Departure Card (this is the white card that should be stapled in your passport)
 Copy of a document verifying your address (lease, utility bill, telephone bill, cable bill, etc.)

Also could be delays there because of the peole who dont know need to go and get there copies done

Good luck

Quite right. I wouldn't dream of going down to soi 5 without my velvet smoking jacket and cravat. I certainly wouldn't want to be seen in shorts and t-shirt looking, I dunno, comfortable

It is actually a breach of etiquette in Thailand to enter a gov office wearing shorts, flips, singlets. Obviously in Patts they have got used to farangs' ways and relaxed the standards, but in other parts of Thailand you can be refused entry and told to come back dressed appropriately. I'm not kidding this happened recently to a guy I know in BKK.
