I will be going along to Jomtien on Monday bright and early to extend my tourist visa as I will be overstaying by several days

Exactly what do I need to take with me besides money and my Passport

Thanks in advance!

Just your passport and money is fine. You can print out the TM7 immigration form from their website and fill it out or do it there. Next door is a place where you will have to photocopy your passport and stamps etc.. and you can take the two photo's required. Make sure you do get there early as Mondays and Fridays are the busiest for obvious reasons.

It was 7 days - as always someone in a bar who knows everything told me it was 10 days - I only needed 7 days anyway

7 days is the extension for Visa Waiver i.e. no Visa.

You said you had a Tourist Visa, for which the extension available is 30 days.

Never heard of a 10 day extension, but in a bar, anything is pississable.  Posted Image

AFAIK an extension goes per 7 days (except the T-visa ext. of 30 days).
In some cases, sickness, illness or any other reason, they might give up to 15 days but then you need documents like a changed air-ticket outbound and a statement from a (govt) hospital doctor saying that you are not able to leave the country due to poor health.

How much does the 30 day extension cost and what are the plus and minuses of it?

1900 Baht - if you have a Tourist Visa not Visa Waiver.

If you find your 60 day TV isn't long enough then it's cheaper than doing a border run (15 days land or 30 days air) and less bother.

The other alternative is a 500/day fine of course.
