What country are you from? Most countries get 30 days on arrival if you arrive by air. If you arrive by land at a border crossing you get 15 days.

It'd be easier if we knew where you're from. EU citizen, Aussies and Americans don't need to apply for a visa for stays under 30 days (you get a 30-day stamp when you land at the airport).

Don't forget to fill in your immigration form on the plane, not at the booth itself like all the timewasters.

From most countries you automatically get a 30day visa.If you're only staying 15days you won't need any extra.

Cheers.

And remember, as Capricorn said: You'll get a stamp which gives you the right to stay in Thailand for a certain amount of time. This stamp is NOT a visa, but a VISA EXEMPT.

Flying into to Thailand through an international airport will give you 30 days and arriving over land will give you 15 days.
The visa exempt is free of charge. In certain cases you can extend your stay up to 15 days at the nearest immigration at a fee of THB 1,900. Reasons for this action: sickness, hospitalization, changed flights, etc.

ENTRY / EXIT REQUIREMENTS FOR U.S. CITIZENS:
If you are a U.S. citizen tourist staying for fewer than 30 days, you do not require a visa, but your passport must be valid for at least six months beyond the date of your entry into Thailand. You may be asked to show an onward/return ticket. If you enter Thailand by air without a visa, you are allowed to stay in Thailand for 30 days per visit. If you enter Thailand by land without a visa, you are allowed to stay in Thailand for 15 days per visit.

When you enter the country, Thai Immigration stamps your passport with the date your authorized stay will expire. If you remain in Thailand beyond this date without getting an official extension, you will be assessed an immediate cash fine of 500 Baht per day, up to a maximum of 20,000 Baht, when departing Thailand.

Hope that helps
