Hello,

Married with a thai woman I have actually a tourist visa, I plan to fly from Phuket on monday 21 november to Kuala Lumpur to apply for the first time for a Non Immigrant O visa. What kind of document do I have to provide to the thai ambassy ? How long to get the visa please ? If I apply on tuesday can I catch a fly to go back on wednesday evening ?

Thanks a lot for your help

I applied for one a few months ago. I had to show that I have 100000 Baht in a Thai account and the original marriage certificate. You will also need a passport photo. I would suggest calling them and ask them what their requirements are and specifically ask if they will issue one. It shouldn't be a problem. At least it wasn't for me but I have a Malaysian work permit. You lodge the application one day and then pick your passport up the following day.

I would try to get it in Thailand at Jomtein Immigration.  I was unable to get my retirement visa initially because I had less than 7 days on my tourist visa.  However, they offered to issue me a Non Immigrant O visa on the basis the same day as I have a Thai wife.  Then I could come back in a few days to get the retirement extension.  All I needed to do was bring her to immigration with her ID card, our marriage papers and her family book.  I have found that dealing with these types of issues locally is the best approach.

I had a feeling I had forgotten something and it was a copy of her house book.

Hopefully someone who knows more will chip in. If you have a multiple entry non-imm O visa you have to leave the country every 90 days. However, I think that you can get an extension towards the end of the visa's validity period. You then get 12 months and have to do the reporting every 90 days. If you are only going to KL for the visa I would suggest contacting your local immigration office to see if you do really need to leave the country to get a visa.

Based upon my first hand experience with this, you do not need to leave the country.

Simple, jusy go to any immigration office particularly the one in Pattaya, ask for the visa extention menue ( they do have one) and make you choice.  It looks something like this. 30 days = 6,500, 60 days = 8,500, 90 days = 12,500, 1 year any age, no need to show funds in the bank  no question asked = 27,000 baht. All of these option are competed in one day, no forms to fill out and no photos required.
