heah guys

planning on a visitor visa for the girl friend. but as this folder of info grows bigger i found myself asking the question of when do we actually send / take it in

by my understanding is that she fills in the online application form, schedules an appointment, travels to bkk, sits in an interview then hands over this big folder of documents goes home then waits for a yay or nay

is that right ?

or is it as soon as she finished the online application she must submit the folder of supporting evidence.?

plan

out april/may for visit so intentions is to do the online application early may and schedule the appointment for early june.

i come home  middle may pick up various things ( P60, house deeds, e.t.c) put them in with the folder then fly back out june and give to her in bkk

cheers

This is correct but it's not an interview as such... She goes in (your not allowed) they take the folder, obtain biometrics (finger prints that will be checked when entering the UK if the application is successful) takes the money and sorts out the courier to return your documents if you want it. VFS have no influence on the visa decision, they are there to handle the logistics on the application.

If she requires an interview you would be contacted by the embassy.

You can either check the progress online or for a small fee have SMS updates. They do not tell you the results of the application though, just that your documents are ready for collection.  You won't know the outcome until you look inside her passport after you get it back.

Only speak to VFS staff when you get to regents house... Lots of agents loiter around looking for business posing as visa officials and saying you won't get a visa without an agent.

Hope that helps and good luck with it.

Despite what the website says ours was in on the Monday and out on the Friday job done.  I hear the embassy is flooded with applications for people wanting to visit the UK for the Olympic Games at the moment though.

Done 3 visa's for a general tourist visa. 1st one failed, the next two passed without interview.

You do the application online (and then print it out), then after this you have to make an appointment online to drop of the bundle. 7-14 days later, she'll get a text message to collect the bundle.

Never had an interview.

In my opinion, the most important information is showing that the applicant is going to return to Thailand, for that they will be looking at her ties  to Thailand and showing she has strong reason to return, ie  job/house/ family. don't overlook this point.

Ok if it works... but if anyone gets found out lying on a visa application they are likely to be banned from applying for 10 years... Seen it happen.

I don't think your GF's application is that weak.  But make sure you won't try that method.  I have seen some "set up" even by a visa consultant company and there was such a big mistake inside the emails.  Definitely not advisable to try.
