I am on ED Visa for almost 6 months now and I would like to share my experience about Progress School.
This school is in soi Yume (soi linking north pattaya road (Pattaya Neua) and central pattaya road (Pattaya Klang)) along the Bic C Extra (Carrefour before). In the soi Yume, it is just next the russian market.
The good thing about this scholl is that you can pay every month. You just start with a deposit of 7000 baht, and then pay 2000 baht every month during 10 months.
This school is manly crowded by russian people (russian girls :GoldenSmile1: ) and the staff is really friendly.
You get your ED Visa really easy and, the first year, is available for 15 months. You need to go to the school twice a week (2 X 2 hours) but it is more fun than going to the school... But that's the best way to learn Thai...I guess :hello09:
I think that it is really important to speak thai (at least the basics) when you are in Thailand... You will be always more than welcome if you try to communicate with their language... So that's maybe a good solution.

For the last 6 months, I will definetly recommand this school.
For information, their website is : www.progresslanguage.com

I don't know any other schools, it's my first... Is there any other informations about others schools that deliver ED Visa?

I thought the name of the soi was Paniad Chang, at least that is how it is called coming from Klang. It is next to the Lukdod shop/market.

I go to the same school. Very nice staff and a good environment. I can also only recommend this school.
Remember... If your from a non-english (native) speaking country, then you can get ED to study english ;) ... I study thai though.

I think it's soi Yume... I always called it like that. And even you coming out from the Bic C parking, there is a sign with : Left : 3rd Road, Right : Soi Yume...
But there is maybe 2 names (Amazing Thailand! ;))

We are conveniently located in the Central Pattaya area, just off Sukhumvit, on a small Soi (Paniad Chang) that runs parallel to Sukhumvit.

PS I have never seen any other signs then Paniad Chang.

Ok we are even : I just googled this :
https://www.google.c...lient=firefox-a

I see many adress like that :Soi Paniad Chang (commonly known as Soi Yume)
or even : Soi 13 Paniad Chang Soi Yume
...
So that's what I said : this road has 2 names : Amazing Thailand ;)
But the official name looks like to be Soi Paniad Chang.

We need to share a beer then eXplosief :Chokdee:

Cheers

Hi Tizio.
I think you can only learn Thai, English and Russian there. No Mandarin.
LOL, you go there to study, but you can also meet people...Like in Europe or US, but with russian girls or even philippines one ;O) Why not ask for a date after all ;O)

Yes it's 8 hours a month for the minimum... I'm pretty sure that you can ask for more.... Why would they refuse extra money :Think1:
For the price, they aske for 7000 baht on subscription and then 10 months 2000 baht (the two last month, you don't have to pay).
It is all inclusive exept for the price of the visa (2000 baht and have to go Laos, but they can do it in Bangkok for you for 3000 baht If I remember good), and then you still have to go immigration on Jomtien every 3 months and give the FAMOUS 1900 baht.
But it is a good deal I think... And you can do ED Visa for 10 years (until the rules changes...).

then i would go for russian ! :)

money : soo ... 27000/year + 2-3000 visa-run + 1900 * 4 == almost 38000 == 1266$/year ???

sounds a bit expensive... here in cambodia it's 300 or 350$/year "no questions asked" business visa and no need to go out of the country.

Does one learn Thai in the same classroom as non-English speakers?

Then it is not designed for speed because the lessons would have to undergo a double translation?

Ok, the visa is good, but for those who really wants to learn Thai...is the education good too? Is school mainly targeting students that just want the visa or are the lessons professional?

Thanks for the nice report. I may not need the ED visa but I am interested in learning more.
I may want to take some classes especially beginning reading and writing - if it's not too expensive.

If you don't want an ED visa, then give the lessons at the public library a shot.
