      Post editing time   31/08/18

Hi folks, please note we have reduced the time you can edit a post to 30 minutes. The ability to edit a post is there for you to fix up things like typos and grammar before the Grammar Police descend on you or to clarify a point you where making that, on seeing it posted, you think could be worded better. Unfortunately, the length of the previous editing window has resulted in several posts being totally changed or deleted which can result in the resulting replies, and indeed the whole thread, being totally nonsensical (over and above the usual that is ) and shows disrespect to the BMs that participated in the discussion. If you wish to clarify a post you made after the window has elapsed, you can easily quote the relevant part of your post and do so. If it is a serious issue, as per current practice, report your post, giving a justification as to why the change is needed, and the mods will deal with it. Just because you made an arse of yourself in the post is not a valid justification. Remember, pause and think before posting re adherence to the rules, legality and the "Nice to be Nice" ethos.

Nude or not nude, that is the question   01/05/18

An inordinate amount of the Moderators Teams time is spent on ensuring inappropriate images are removed from the forums where necessary as per Rule 29. On investigating why people have posted nude images in a non-advanced area, the vast majority of the feedback we've had has been "I didn't realise where I was".  Therefore, we have added a visual indicator to help you quickly identify whether you are posting in the advanced or the non-advanced area. If you are in an advanced area you will notice the page background is now a pale green - green for go.                               If you do not see the green background it is your responsibility to double check where you are on the site prior to posting any images/videos. This is doubly important for those using Tapatalk due to the fact we have no control over the Tapatalk theme (i.e. Tapatalk users will not see this visual indicator). Offenders will be sanctioned.

I've never heard of this card but am seeking a replacement for my Revolut card so will read into it. This initially looks viable (along with the Halifax Clarity).

It was discussed among others on a couple of lengthy threads last year. Not sure if I can find them now?

Caxton would be better than a ‘normal’ Bank debit card or most credit cards but I seem to remember the fees were a little higher than some others? I did have a Travelex Supercard until they closed them down and I still have a Revolut - but it’s not so good for Thailand now (though still better than a debit card).

If you’re happy getting a Credit Card, and set it up so you automatically pay the full balance every month, then I think Halifax Clarity comes out as the best option in most cases.

There is a new option now called Starling. That may well be worth a look.

Edit: just an afterthought; remember, if you plan to withdraw cash a lot then you’ll be paying the Thai banks ATM charge whatever card you get. Unless you can withdraw cash on the card in bank branches - which isn’t always possible.

A lot of people on here were banging on about something called Starling Bank not too long ago, as the new substitute for Revolut now that's shit. Didn't find out til after my last trip so not bothered with it yet, must remind myself to sort that out.

I had been using my Nationwide debit card for the time being, works out better than Revolut aside from the latter's fee-free £200 per month, or whatever relatively pointless amount it was.

Edit: Actually sod it, I may as well get a Clarity Card, looks good.

Yes, works great. Never had a problem. Well except on the last few trips it did not work from the Thai bank that has a yellow background. Cannot remember the name. All other are fine on ATM’s.

Not the best.

Though not a prepaid card as such, https://www.starlingbank.com/travel/ is the best debit card at the mo. Especially as some report being able to use it to withdraw over the bank counter in order to avoid the ATM fee.

Next best is; https://loot.io/
