Marriage Visa and Thai Bank Account

Recommended Posts

Steve-Essex

Can anyone please tell me the financial requirements for a marriage visa and extensions.

I have read that you need 400,000THB in a Thai bank account for two months, but have also read you also need to have an income of 40,000THB per month. On other websites I have read it is either 400,000THB in a Thai bank account or 40,000THB per month income. It is not clear.

Also if anyone has any help about how to open Thai Bank Account on tourist visa prior to getting the marriage visa, so I can deposit funds to be able to get the marriage visa.

You have the choice of 400,000 baht in a bank account for two months before first application or 40,000 income per month,   the two month becomes three months for any subsequent extensions.   Problem with income is you need to prove the income and some embassies have stopped providing the letter that you require, quess from your name you are from UK and that is one of the embassies that have stopped the letters.

The money in the bank has to be in a Thai bank account, has to be in your name, no joint accounts allowed and you need letter from bank on day you apply to prove the funds.  Our immigration also insists on a cash deposit or withdrawal on that day.  The bank letter must show the exact same amount as the money in the passbook.

In the past I have opened an account on a 30 day visa waiver without problem but that was a while ago.  Seems that if a bank refuses to open an account for you just go to the next one and try there, eventually one bank will do it for you.
